March 20th Blog Continued.... (didn't see these questions)

1. Hard light comes from a single point, this produces hard shadows. The light is from sun, flashlight, or a projector. Soft lights come from a larger source making shadows less defined or invisible such as sun behind the clouds.

2. The sun produces the colour blue, fluorescent lights give off the colour green, and candles give the colour red.

3) Describe the three light setup. What are the roles of the Key, Fill and Back lights? Fill in the chart below:

TYPE OF LIGHT:       PURPOSE:           POSITIONING:
Key                   Brightest light source         45 degrees to the right or left of someone
Fill          to fill in the dark area opposite the key    same as key but opposite side
Back  To put a splash of light on the subjects shoulder and hair    behind the subject (or a little off to the side)

4) How do you fix these common lighting problems?
     1. A sunny day
-use a bounce card, find some shade, or use an artificial light (need long extension cord)
     2. A large dim room
-bounce light off the ceiling, this adds a softer light
     3. Mixed lighting
-close blinds! or don't use the artificial light and just use the natural
